VLS 150:Custom solution for lifting lawn mower frame

A manufacturer of tire and tire treads experienced frustration over the lack of proper material handling equipment. Employees were asked to manually lift 60 lbs. carbon black bags and 110 lbs. of raw rubber blocks.  The company was experiencing a 50% reduction in production areas, scheduling problems and high employee turnover.

VLS Corporation Distributor’s Solution:

Our local Distributor conducted an assessment of the carbon black and raw rubber production lifting areas. VLS Corporation reviewed the findings and together worked with our Distributor to determine the best solution for the production areas.  VLS vacuum lift systems were installed with bridge cranes spanning the entire working areas. The properly installed cranes and VLS systems allowed the employees to easily lift the carbon black bags and raw rubber blocks.

A manufacturer of furniture experienced very difficult and hazardous manual lifting conditions. The manufacturer’s employees were handling several dangerously different sizes of wood tabletops varying in weight from 75 lbs. to 200 lbs. Productivity was compromised by slow and treacherous movements. Equally the manufacturer risked an increase in worker’s compensation claims from its employees.

Distributor’s Solution:

Our local Distributor conducted an assessment of the current tabletop application and surveyed the manufacturer’s lifting area. VLS Corporation was asked to review the findings. Together VLS and its Distributor determined the need for an install of a test system. The VLS 230 lift system and a floor mounted jib crane were installed. For easier lifting a custom VLS adjustable foot with large suction feet was designed to lift all sizes and weights.

VLS’s vacuum lifting system is an ergonomic, safe and cost efficient means of transporting loads in a manufacturing process, while reducing the physical requirements of workers.

How It Works

This self-contained vacuum powered system lifts, maneuvers, and lowers a variety of non-porous and semi-porous loads by vacuum. Operators of the system may control the vacuum pressure by opening or closing the control valve, allowing one to lift, move and lower loads. The column of the vacuum in the lift tube allows for lifting without any stress to the operator. The ergonomic design allows the system to be suspended from a lightweight overhead crane, resulting in a greater range of motion for the operator.

The VLS system is available in standard ranges from lifting 100lb to 480lb (45kg to 217kg) capacity. Custom systems and attachments are designed and manufactured to solve a company’s lifting challenges.
